At Dev Day, OpenAI releases apps, agents, and more
At its Dev Day 2025 event, OpenAI recently revealed a number of upgrades, such as increased developer access to models like Sora 2 via API, new app integrations directly in ChatGPT, and agent building capabilities. The specifics: Canva, Figma, Spotify, and Zillow are among the first apps available for users to run, chat with, and create within ChatGPT using the Apps SDK. With revenue choices and an app launch later this year, apps open and integrate seamlessly into ChatGPT's discussion flow. A visual workflow builder, embeddable chat components, evaluation tools, and connectors are all part of the new AgentKit suite of agent-building tools. With a new Slack integration, an SDK for integrating into unique workflows, and admin controls for enterprise deployment, GPT-5-Codex is now widely accessible. Additionally, developers are granted API access to Sora 2, GPT-5 Pro for complicated reasoning, and a 70% less expensive gpt-realtime-mini voice model than earlier iterations. OpenAI is transforming ChatGPT into a multipurpose platform that may someday function as a browser in and of itself, allowing users to interact directly within a chat and call on the website or app they require rather than browsing manually. Additionally, the AgentKit will compete with and cause disruptions for rivals like as Lindy, n8n, Zapier, and others.
