Cursor introduces the 2.0 platform and new code model

Cursor just unveiled Composer, its first proprietary coding model that approaches frontier capabilities with SOTA speed, along with a redesigned 2.0 platform that can operate several AI agents at once. The specifics: Composer completes most jobs in less than 30 seconds, achieving top-level intelligence while creating code about four times faster than competing systems. With the 2.0 platform version, developers may operate up to eight AI assistants simultaneously and autonomously without interference. Additional features include voice commands, a native browser tool for testing, integrated online browsing for documentation lookup, and more. Cursor's first internal model, Composer, represents the company's first step away from only depending on outside AI coding systems. By designing for a future in which engineers spend more time directing in a multi-agent space and reviewing work rather than directly in a code editor, Cursor is taking a risk on the evolution of software development itself. This means that skill sets will shift from pure coding ability to judgment, architecture decisions, and quality control.
