Launch of former Meta designers Wearable Stream Ring AI
Stream Ring, an AI wearable that records whispered thoughts through a ring device and transcribes voice into structured notes while also serving as a music controller, was introduced by Sandbar, a firm created by former Meta designers.
The specifics:
After working on neural interfaces at CTRL-Labs, which Meta purchased in 2019, cofounders Mina Fahmi and Kirak Hong created the ring.
Instead of yelling wake phrases, users enable recording by holding a touchpad; whisper-detection microphones translate speech to text.
Back-and-forth communication is made possible using ElevenLabs speech technology, which allows the AI assistant to answer in a synthesized version of the wearer's voice.
Preorders for the Stream Ring start at $249 (with a $10 subscription model), and delivery is scheduled for the summer of 2026.
The Stream Ring is another wearable that has joined the market, adding AI voice technology to pendants, pins, and other form factors. Although simplicity might be a distinction, there is plenty of competition from other wearables and gear, such as earbuds that are receiving AI updates.
